Your Development Areas

You cannot do it well but enjoy doing it

Although knowing your strengths and ability to communicate them to a potential employer is critical in gaining a desirable job, it is of an equal importance to be aware of those activities that you cannot do very well but have a strong interest in as these are the areas in which you wish to develop in the future.

Consider the following questions:

  • In what area would you feel the least confident and would like to improve that?
  • What trait or characteristics, if overcome, would make you more effective?
  • What areas of interest would positively influence your career development?
  • What skills would be worth upgrading based on current and future economic trends?

Identify your main development areas and transfer them to your Career Map.

Later you should consider options such as taking formal courses, voluntary work or expanding your current role to convert your current development areas into your strengths.
